In this article, I share with you how to externally use six natural remedies that enhance the health and growth of your hair.
- Brahmi (gotu kola)
- Fenugreek seeds (methi)
- Amla (Indian Gooseberry)
- Aloe Vera
Brahmi is a valuable ayurvedic herb. Rich in vitamin C and antioxidant properties, brahmi helps to strengthen the hair follicles and reduce hair fall. Plus, Brahmi also calms your mind and helps you sleep better. So if you are stressed or have difficulty falling asleep, brahmi oil can come to your rescue.
Ways to use: brahmi oil for a head massage or you can also use brahmi powder in a hair pack.
Bhringraj is an ancient herbal remedy to treat premature greying. It is also very effective to reduce hair loss. This herb stimulates the hair follicles and encourages new hair growth. Plus it works to strengthen the hair shaft, improve hair texture and maintain the natural hair colour.
Note: Bhringraj is best suitable for people with black or dark brown color.
Ways to use: bhringraj oil for a head massage or use bhringraj powder in a hair pack.
Fenugreek is one of nature’s oldest medicinal plants. It works to reduce inflammation and soothe dry and itchy skin. High in protein, vitamin C, and vitamin B, regular use of fenugreek seeds will make your hair silkier, shinier and healthier.
Ways to use: make a hair rinse.
Rosemary is an aromatic evergreen shrub with antioxidant, antiseptic and astringent properties, that tones, conditions, and strengthens the scalp and hair. It stimulates blood flow to the scalp and works to remove excess sebum and dandruff which can clog the hair follicles and affect hair growth. It also balances mind, body and spirit.
Ways to use: hair rinse, rosemary infused oil or rosemary essential oil mixed with coconut or olive oil for a head massage.
Amla is an antioxidant having high content of vitamin C, minerals, amino acids, flavonoid and tannins. Eating fresh or dried amla can help slow or prevent hair loss, reverse graying, and promote stronger and healthier growth. Plus the anti-fugal properties will keep your scalp dandruff-free.
Ways to use: amla juice with coconut oil or amla oil for a head massage. You can also use amla powder in a hair pack.
Naturally rich in vitamins, minerals and amino acids, aloe vera nourishes and moisturizes, which aid in improving shine and elasticity. Aloe Vera is an antipruritic – a substance that relieves itching. It also contains anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, which can help soothe scalp conditions such as dandruff and eczema.
Ways to use: use fresh or market bought aloe vera gel on scalp and hair. When you buy aloe gel make sure it’s of best quality.
