Apples help boost your intake of Vitamin C and are also rich in copper. Both will impart noticeable shine and health to your hair. Walnuts are packed with B-Vitamins, especially B7 (biotin), which will help prevent hair loss and fall as well as improve hair growth.
To make the dough for this recipe, start with one cup of walnuts and one cup of pitted dates which have been soaked overnight in water. Be sure to chop the dates a bit before adding them to help them blend better. Also, you can check for seeds while chopping. Begin blending the walnuts and dates by using a small amount of water. Add in 1 tablespoon of coconut oil that has been gently melted in a bain-marie. Add in ½ cup of coconut flakes. Place the blended ingredients into a bowl and be sure to wash your blender.
For the apple layer, you will need five sweet apples (Jonathan apples are a personal favorite!), the juice from ½ of a lemon, 2-3 tablespoons of raw honey (or to your taste), 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and 4-5 tablespoons of psyllium husk. Blend the peeled and chopped apples along with the other ingredients until smooth.
Now it is time to construct the cake. Using a layered method, start with a layer of dough for the bottom, the stack the apple layer next, then more dough, apples and dough. Arrange all of these layers in a cake pan. When all ingredients have been used, add cinnamon powder on top or coconut flakes and other fruits if desired. Refrigerate your cake at least several hours or overnight before serving.
