If you are searching for a beautiful hairstyle that is not just elegant, but romantic, a braided top knot is the perfect solution. This style works with many different types of hair including curly and straight. When you see how easy it is to create this style, you’ll master it in no time and it will become one of your go-to styles. There’s no need to pay a high price for a fancy updo at the salon when this stunning look is one you can do yourself in just a manner of minutes. It will look amazing and turn heads wherever you go.
To begin the style, start by parting your hair to the side, more than you normally would. This part, which will be just a few inches above your ear, will allow for you to make a longer braid, which really makes the style pop.
Make a hand part across the top of your head, pulling a generous section down and to the side to begin the braid. Then, working towards the other side, away from the part, begin making a standard braid. Keep it a bit on the loose side, but tight enough that it will hold its shape. When you have finished the braid, don’t let go of it just yet! If your hair is thin or fine, you can take the opportunity to secure the very end of the braid with a small elastic to help keep the braid in place. Another option would be to pin the braid to your head to keep it in place for the next step.
Next, while keeping a firm grip on the braid, gather up all of your hair and pull it back, but keeping it up high as if you’re making a high ponytail. When you pull the braid back with the rest of your hair, try to keep it swept back at an angle, making it go across the front of your head and then swept back elegantly into the bun.
When you have all of your hair and the braid gathered on top, use an elastic to secure everything into place. If your hair is very long, you can twist the hair into a bun and secure with bobby pins. If your hair is a bit shorter, you can use the pins to twist and secure your hair into a messy bun. Be sure to save a bobby pin for securing the braid. Feel free to experiment with the bun. Try making a large messy bun or a smooth, pinned bun and see which one you like best!
For an extra romantic touch, you can pull a few strands down from the side to create a few face-framing pieces on the side. One extra step you can take with the braid is to gently pull the sides of each braid out a bit, giving it some texture and volume. It will really make the hairstyle stand out and you will get many compliments on it.
Before heading out, be sure to keep your style looking great all day or night by lightly spritzing your finished style with an all-natural hair spray that will nourish your hair as well as adding a light fragrance and the perfect hold. Now you’re ready to enjoy the evening and have an elegant hairdo to match so many different outfits and occasions. This style can go from the office, to the beach and even out on the town with the fanciest outfit.
